When is National Beach Day?
The 30th of August is recognized as National Beach Day. In so many ways, that is the ideal time to celebrate. It is, of course, still in the height of summer, so it will undoubtedly be warm. It would be best if you were near a beach because of the hot weather since it will keep you cool. You may observe National Beach Day the way it was intended if you pack your suit and head to the beach.
History of National Beach Day
With access to freshwater lakes or saltwater oceans, beaches promote enjoyable and healthful outdoor activities like swimming, sports, building sand castles, going on picnics, playing frisbee, and just relaxing with the feel of sand between your toes.
But the world’s beaches are deteriorating as a result of human intervention and global climate change, much like many of the planet’s most valuable landscapes. National Beach Day undoubtedly inspired people to spend time at the beach and improved everyone’s enjoyment of them.
Colleen Paige, an animal activist, and lifestyle advisor launched National Beach Day in 2014. Her motive for beginning the day was to persuade people to clean up the beaches’ natural resources in order to make them attractive and long-lasting so that everyone may enjoy them in the future.
Why is National Beach Day 2022 celebrated?
There are certainly a ton of good reasons to commemorate this day. For starters, the US has a long tradition of valuing its coastlines as essential components of its history, culture, and identity. It’s true that the first President of the United States, who is also a native of New Hampshire, said he “liked the sandy beaches of New Hampshire,” was also a native of that state.
What are some fun beach activities?
It will be difficult to choose just one activity to do at the beach because there are so many options!
- Building sandcastles
- Playing sports like volleyball, badminton, ultimate frisbee, spikeball, etc.
- Have a picnic and bring some cookies for the beach
- Read a book or magazine, or listen to an audiobook
- Look for dolphins
- Celebrate special occasions: celebrate spring with flowers or a fresh summer bouquet
- Surfing or boogie boarding
- And so much more!
When it comes to entertaining things to do at the beach, the possibilities are virtually endless. So, let your imagination run wild and see where it takes you. It’s a wonderful spot to be by yourself and let nature reenergize and renew you.
How do we preserve our beaches?
The simplest method to protect our beaches is to make sure that everything you bring there is also taken home at the end of the day. It’s essential to pick up after yourself to maintain the beaches tidy and risk-free for everyone who uses or visits them. Either bring all of your rubbish home with you or get rid of it when you leave it in the correct bins. If you don’t take your rubbish with you, it could, with just a little breeze, end up in the ocean or in the home of an animal that lives on the beach. Therefore, you can end up killing wildlife in addition to polluting. Using “reef-safe” sunscreen is a fantastic approach to protecting the beaches. The majority of sunscreens contain harsh chemicals and additives that can destroy aquatic life and vegetation. By purchasing the right sunscreen, you are defending both the beach and your skin. To us, this situation is a win-win.

How do we observe National Beach Day?
Naturally, going to the beach to take in its beauty and spreading the word on how to preserve it as safe and clean as possible are the two primary methods to commemorate National Beach Day. Set up your picnic or beach towels while you are there to celebrate, then take some images to post on social media to let your friends know about the great day and inspire them to be their best beach selves, too. You are assisting in educating people about what it means to be a responsible beachgoer by utilizing hashtags and uploading them. Even with filler flowers, daisies, birds of paradise, and your other favorite floral arrangements, you might want to enjoy the beach. Even though we understand that you don’t want to leave your food, flowers, or other treats at home, try to keep in mind the first National Beach Day rule: whatever you bring, be sure to clean it up and pack it out.
We wish you a National Beach Day filled with fun, wonderful memories, and wonderful people. Enjoy.
